Their units tend to be more expensive than the Soviets, and are somewhat weaker, but make up for it with generally supportive secondary powers. This prevealance for rushes makes them perfectly opposed to their nemesis: the Alliesīasicly Western Europe + America, the allies are a loverly bunch of democratic nations, dedicated to beeing peaceful and avoiding war and all that shizzle. Units from older games make a reapearance such as my favourite: the Kirov Airship. The Soviets are the same as always, cheap, low tech, expendable units, strong in early game and good for rushes, the long the game progresses however, the weaker they become, as their late game units are basicly bigger up-gunned versions of their earlier ones (such as the C&C classic, Apocolypse tank). However, while the Allies and Soviets have been bleeding each other dry, the Empire of the Rising Sun has been building up an advanced military, and decides to launch a suprise attack on both sides. The Soviets are getting their asses handed to them, when their few remaining generals use a secret time machine to kill enistine, thus the allies lose much of their technological advantage over the Soviet union, and putting them on the backfoot.

Its an RTS, the plot isn't really terribly important, but to give a brief overview. Two newish things have been introduced for RA3, firstly every unit has a secondary ability, and secondly naval combat is now much more important, as you can built bases on the sea, and many units are amphibous (such as the Empires' MBT) Overall, for EA games its a well pollished, solid addition to their previously hit-and-miss RTS line up. But, is this a bad thing? I would say no, RA3 is not new or clever, but it is one of the best of this 'traditional' style of RTSs, its well balanced, all the factions have good points and bad points, all have a unique style of play, while still remaining accessable. You may be thinking 'well then, thats just crap, how can we have a normal RTS in a post-Company of Heroes gaming world', the answer is simple because its not trying to be anything ground breaking, in my opinion their are two kinds of games, the new innovative kind, and those that are more of the same, this is deffinatly the latter. RA3 is your tradtional RTS, build a base, collect moonies, either turtle or tank rush the enemy: we all know the drill by now. In Tradtional C&C style it has camp, over the top, live action cut sceans. This time around their are three factions, the first two are the usual suspects: Soviets and the Allies, but this time are joined by the Empire of the Rising sun (think WWII japan crossed with Gundam Wing). Red Alert 3 is the new sequel to the classic red alert of yore, (which is now avaible for free!), and the third C&C game developed by EA. Ive decide to do this review in red because its in the game title.
